[BC] unreliable old equipment query and some news of my next book

My friend Art is deeply grateful for your responses, which he found very 
helpful.  In the course of his research, he has several other technical 
queries and was hoping he might contact those of you who responded, 
off-list.  (He's not selling anything-- he's just trying to write a 
book.)  Oh, and speaking of writing a book, my editors at M.E. Sharpe 
have agreed to let me update and publish a second edition of "Invisible 
Stars:  A Social History of Women in American Broadcasting."  Needless 
to say, I am delighted.  Any suggestions about women engineers or 
managers  I ought to include (or men who have mentored women engineers 
and managers) would be much appreciated!
