[BC] Cell phones and NOAA

According to the NOAA NWS site I kind of got the impression that the SAME scheme used FIPS codes for each location. IOW "SAME" is the system and FIPS numbers were the method. Please let me know if I got that screwed up.

BTW, the RS 12-259 handles 10 codes whereas the 12-258 handled 15. Whish I could find a '258 which is a desktop with a larger display than the tiny handheld '259.

I saw a Midland radio the other day that not only did SAME codes, but FIPS
  codes as well.

  Great back-up EAS receiver perhaps?

I've got a Rat Shack NOAA radio that's 5 or 6 years old, and yes, it handles
  multiple
SAME codes. I would imagine that current production does as well. You might
  check
their website--many of their products have the manuals available for
  downloading, and
you could check it out before buying...
