I can agree with the analogy but, fax me a copy (or e-mail it) into my
computer and I can print up any number of paper copies and every one of
them will be just as "authentic" as an old-fashioned faxed copy. But, if
I loose a copy from the e-mail, I can go back and reprint. If I loose a
page of an old-fashined fax (or, if the machine "eats" it), I'm just out
of luck...

I'm not saying that faxes are all bad or completely outdated. Just a
lower resolution and a lot less convenient. (To me, that lacl of
convenience is probably something to do with the lack of resolution. I
have a tendency to see the smeared and streaked faxes as being inferior
to a cleanly transferred e-mail attachment. I occasionally see orders
that are printed so small that a third or even a fourth re-fax is
required to be able to properly enter them into traffic and billing
while the *TWO* agencies who will send and accept attachments never seem
to be difficult to work with at all.)
