Hi Scott,
 
When NBC had Football years ago, it was done the same was it was done at  
CBS. As the games ended each game had their own JIPed net. As they all ended the  
stations were switched to their appropriate regional nets. It was a pain in 
the  butt and one I don't miss.
Planning would start around Thursday and not really be ready for air  till 
Sunday AM.  We used to take a walk around 30 Rock before each  broadcast because 
at that point we were in "cruise or crash" mode. 
 
I did the first NFL game that NBC distributed by satellite and the  last. I 
was in charge of Skypath back in those days.
