Not sure exactly what you mean, here... do you mean transferring files via 
LAN? Our systems do that constantly. Our AudioVault system has a utility that 
mirrors all of the audio and logs between the two boxes, so there's always a 
100% backup. We also do audio editing on several different workstations, then 
dump the finished files directly into the AV machine, and "import" them from 
there.

Ours is pretty minimalistic. There isn't a whole lot of "overkill" here.
