Jack:

HD CRT??? or SD CRT???. I have seen video breakup on the HD feed which due
to
the digital processing and transmission temporarily freezes into
pixilization.
That is very different from overall crappy video and motion artifacts. At
home I
get an excellent picture in HD. I saw a friend's LCD panel which was tuned
to
the SD channel. The artifacts were awful. I switched to the HD channel and
the
video was greatly improved. I did not scrutinize it for motion artifacts as
much
as I did my CRT. In all instances Time Warner Cable New York was the
carrier.

My CRT is HD all 200 pounds of it. It is a Panasonic 34 inch 16X9 with
native 1080i. I see fewer breakup and pixilation later this week, but they
are still there. The motion artifacts are mostly due to interlace and inter
field movement. On high speed events with lots of motion it is very
apparent. The curling looked fine! I guess this is where 720p shines! I
am most likely more critical than the average viewer when it comes to
quality, I suspect Joe Sixpack would be fine with it except for the breakup
and audio pops. Those random fits are what everyone would find annoying,
and after looking at the avs forum it is a nationwide problem, not just here
on the left coast.
