As I was reading, the Apple MacBook Air came to mind until I read
about the budget.
A MacBook would be a good choice. Not AS light, not AS small as the
Air, but has everything else. PLUS, if you are serious about the
memory (RAM) it has the Santa Rosa chip set, and Apple says it takes
4 GB of RAM. Not so, IT WILL TAKE 8 GB! A friend of mine had 8 GB
in his MacBook for about two weeks as a test for a RAM manufacturer.
It worked great. However, the 4 GB cards are currently pretty
expensive. I think that RAM costs more than the computer, but at
least we know it will support it once the price comes down.
It comes with Mac OS X.5 and Darwin Unix, and will run Windoz if you
HAVE to run it.
