Let me guess... it's a multi-thousand member "mega-church"? :)

This can only work if each choir member is individually mic'ed, and there is 
minimal pickup of the voices on every side of him/her. If one person's voice 
is off-key, but the person next to them is not, when you pull the off-key voice 
on-key, that will pull the on-key, off-mic voice out-of-key.
