If you're worried, check it with a SA....
use one with a "memory" - either persistent phosphors or RAM....
(this from the guy who would like to get his HP 8557A / 182A repaired
and recalibrated - it won't focus! I suspect the pot - maybe one of the
diodes in the focus chain... no HV probe to check, though. Hey! Does
anyone have any ideas about how to maybe home-brew a HV probe? 100 meg
resistor or something? I'm well aware of the need for a HiPot holder,
but what about the guts? For use with standard DMM / DVMs?)
