OK, I don't know a lot, but I know some.  I worked for First Media  
when they got the grant.   The transmitter was bought new.

I have no idea if they are still on the first set of tubes, but I  
really doubt it.  Someone else on the list would be better to ask.

The station was originally WPGC, then the WHFS call sign was parked on  
it.  The WNEW call sign is a real surprise.  I would figure it better  
in NYC,

I am pretty sure it has a 1 kW transmitter for night, and they have an  
unlicensed (last I knew) pair of AM transmitters at the FM site for  
"emergency" operation.  They had a CCA  and a RCA 10 kW transmitter at  
the old two tower array, just a few miles away, at the FM site.

I was told the old AM site was licensed as an emergency site, but I  
never found anything at the FCC.
