CBS Radio's 1580 AM facility has indeed been running a 317C2/3 with the original PA tubes since 1985. It's been running daytime hours at 52.6 kW DA-D since then. A Harris SX-1 runs the DA-N. I installed the transmitters and left DC in 2000. Roger Dufault, the longtime and very capable RF site engineer continues to maintain the 317 with the same tubes. The tubes have lasted this long because of good filament voltage management and a high velocity air exhaust system. But the rig is soon to be replaced by a rebuilt Harris DX50.
