Never mind! A funny thing happened this morning in that, for the first time
since Monday (December 19th), the AM signal is now back on! But, it's at a
drastically reduced power and can almost not be heard at our location which
is just 2.5 miles from the transmitter.
(I'm wondering if this might not be a result of a friend's email to them
asking if he could help with transmitter repairs.)
I know that, back during the summer, the "let's turn off the AM transmitter"
option was mentioned over there as a means of saving on the power bill (and
the $300 monthly equalized loop factors in, too). I'm just wondering when
they'll realize that they can get away with having the dog wag the tail and
start programming the translator and then rebroadcasting that FM signal
through the AM transmitter as a means of eliminating the phone company.
My guess is that the AM will now be on at flea power as a means of saving on
the power bill. As they are so fond of saying, over there: Why do we even
have that AM transmitter on? We all know that everyone listens to FM!

Ummmm Keith... unless they got a waiver, translators are not allowed to
originate programming. In fact, the rules specify that if the translator is
simulcasting an AM, the AM must have operated within the past 24 hours.
