One of my clients has an interesting answer to that. He has a daytime AM 
and a Class A FM (i.e. not a translator) that normally simulcast; however, 
when he runs infomercials and the like, they only run on the FM, while the 
AM runs normal programming. This allows listeners to opt out of the 
infomercials by switching to the AM.
